Humanizing the Data

The World Development Report is an annual report published by the World Bank. Each WDR provides in-depth analysis of a specific aspect of economic development. In 2021 the WB leadership reached out to us to create a visual concept to represent that year’s theme: the complex landscape of data governance and how it impacts humans. Typically, when data is used, it tends to be stripped of its soul and humanity. Economists, policy makers and analysts tend to forget about the human lives that were changed and tracked, to produce the numbers they rely on so heavily.

Our Partnership
Our approach was to humanize the data, celebrating the lives it represents and those it impacts through changes in business and governance. For the WDR 21 concept, we focused on the relationship between collecting data, analyzing it, and using the results to improve the lives of those in need. We created a standout visual concept using versatile graphics that worked well in both print and web formats. Our design solution package equipped multiple agencies with the tools to seamlessly execute our concept across various platforms. Our client was thrilled. The agencies were delighted. We were ecstatic.
